How to Build a City
It is very interesting to read the article, How to Build a City. In the reading the author took Roman as an example that starts from the establishing a structure of a city to programming a city to setting up rules especially the icons they created for every signal important elements of a city. Building a city just sounds magnificent for me because in the past, it is not only considering the overall structure of a city, but the seasons as well. They consider the city will be hot temperature in the summer and cold air in the winter in terns of the architectures as well as the agriculture. It is just so hard to imagine how people in the past could figure out the overall details in a city. In the reading, the author mentioned the shape of a city is always based on a rectangle, which makes a lot of senses because of the shapes of buildings and perpendicular lines of streets. Also, in the past, the center was always for the building of the king, which is like a central power of the city that protect by the structures of the others in the city. In other words, a city is like a person who has a heart that protected by all of the muscles and skins.
